Cape Bonavista Lighthouse

This brilliant red-and-white-striped lighthouse dates from 1843. The interior has been restored to the 1870s, and includes the original lead-weight pulley device that kept the lighthouse lights turning automatically, as well as period costumes curious tourists can try on. A puffin colony lives just offshore; the birds put on quite a show around sunset.
