Cattedrale di San Bartolomeo

A fine example of 17th-century baroque architecture, the Aeolians' 'mother church' was built to replace the 11th-century Norman cathedral destroyed by Barbarossa. Little remains of the original except a section of Benedictine cloister to the right of the entrance. The interior features a silver statue of St Bartholomew (1728), Lipari's patron saint, with his flayed skin tucked under his arm.
