This old marketplace, whose name means `40 Spoons Bazaar' in Turkish, was built in 1597 and has also served as a soup kitchen, medrese (religious seminary) and hostel over the years. Today it’s a bazaar once again, with souvenir shops and food kiosks. It gets its name from the spoon designs on its four outer walls.
