Okehampton Castle

Okehampton's castle dates back to Norman times, and is strategically sited on top of a rocky escarpment. Later it became a sumptuous residence for Hugh Courtenay, Earl of Devon, who enlarged it into Devon's largest castle. It's now a picturesque ruin; little remains of the interior, but several of the stout exterior walls still stand, some careering off at improbable angles.
