Portumna Castle & Gardens

Built in the early 1600s by Richard de Burgo, Portumna Castle's elaborate gardens include a geometric formal garden, a rose garden and a walled kitchen garden. Renovations of the castle's looming facade are on-going; you can currently access a section of the ground floor to see displays on its history and the de Burgo family.

It's in Portumna, some 70km southeast of Galway city.
