Topsmead State Forest

This forest was once the estate of Edith Morton Chase. You can visit her grand Tudor-style summer home, complete with its original furnishings (free guided tours are available between June and October, on the second and fourth weekends of the month). Then spread a blanket on the lawn and have a picnic while enjoying the view at 1230ft. Topsmead is 2 miles east of Litchfield.
