William Johnson House

A freed slave, Johnson produced 14 leather-bound diaries describing his life as a successful barber and community member in Natchez from 1835 to 1851. Exhibits describe his interesting life and his tragic murder, which followed a property boundary dispute with a neighbor. You can also tour his attached home, notable for its bright pink entranceway.
