Cargèse’s Greek community had been established in the village for 150 years by the time they erected this Greek Orthodox church, between 1868 and 1874. Inside, it holds a gilded iconostasis – the screen separating the congregation from the sanctuary – and some sumptuous murals, including a depiction of Satan seated on the Throne of the Beast surrounded by little pitchfork-toting devils.
